It’s time to get to it, if you haven’t already. Google’s counterclaim is that HTTPS is becoming cheaper and easier to integrate, which is true.
So, why the change? Google’s argument is, “users should expect that the web is safe by default.” However, well-presented information allows users to be informed and can be accomplished through minimalism instead of outright removal. Your data is kept secure from third parties, so most modern sites are employing this technology, using Transport Layer Security (TLS) the underlying tech behind HTTPS, to do this. Here’s a quick HTTPS refresher course: it’s a more secure version of HTTP, acting as a secure communication protocol for users and websites, making it harder for eavesdroppers to snoop on your packets. Then in October, sites visited with Chrome 70 that don’t have HTTPS certificates will trigger a red “Not secure” label when entering text. Sites using HTTPS will no longer trigger the green “Secure” text that usually appears in the address bar on Chrome version 69. You may also start with * to only return bookmark results.Google is changing the visual cues for HTTPS in Chrome’s user interface, starting in September. If you start the entry in the Chrome address bar with the ^ character and type at least three characters, results from the browsing history are returned exclusively. Option 3: Use the ^ character or other special characters Select the menu icon next to the search engine and there "make default" to make it the new default search engine in Google Chrome.(See: It may be time to switch to DuckDuckGo or Startpage for web search) Hover the mouse on top-right of the tile and you'll see an 'X' appear. Top left is your most visited site, the second most visited is on the second tile and so on. My selected search engine is Startpage, but you can select any other search engine such as DuckDuckGo as well. On wider displays you'll get 8 tiles when Chrome is maximized, while on smaller resolutions you'll see less tiles, 6 or 4.Chrome picks them up as you visit the websites of the search engines and run a search. Option 2: change the default search provider Why that is affecting the priority of results is unclear. The description suggests that it adds Google Drive search options to Chrome's address bar if Google Search is the default provider and if you are signed in to a Google account.
